Wizard of Algorithms

‘I would have asked more about Pythagoras,’ Paul says, ‘can you believe what he stumbled upon?’ I watch Paul clicking keys on my computer. He seems so happy. ‘I would have prepared the Ephesians, Corinthians, Philippians,’ he continues while moving the mouse, ‘that they would need to be big data engineers.’

‘Wizards of Wall Street,’ Paul smiles, ‘a body of believers on the lines of lightning fast trades on companies and the liquidity of wealth.’ I watch, as Paul spins a penny on the table. ‘I would have pondered how to talk clearer about uncertainty, risk, and the probable.’

‘Ruin and its disguises in financial ruin.’
