The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
1 Corinthians 6:13
‘I wrote that for that last part,’ Paul says. He has taken out a big sheet of paper and laid it on the ground. ‘Why don’t people catch that last part as easily?’ He asks.
He goes out to the garage, picks up two cans of paint. One is white the other pink. He begins to mix the paints and set them beside the paper. Drops of paint begin to splatter.
‘For I am saying,’ Paul begins, ‘the Lord is meant for the body. End of sentence.’
On the paper Paul begins to write a capitalized B. Then O. Then D. Y. He stands back, then, smears a pink line through the word.
‘We imagine God as immaterial, but it sounds like that was never the goal. The promise that our body was meant for God is only known because God was meant for a body. Jesus’ body.’
